The rock book
My rock book was a student project: the brief was to create a book about my chosen landscape architect, no larger than A4 and no more than 1500 words.
The landscape architect I chose to write about was Ellis Stones (1895-1975). Stones was Australia's first popular landscape architect, the father of an Australian landscape style.
Stones started his landscape design career after a chance meeting in 1935 with Edna Walling, who wrote of him: 'It is a rare thing this gift for placing stones and strange that a man possessing it should bear the name Stones'.
