Redevelopment in 1993
In 1993, I started a whole new garden redevelopment. Now the garden was wholly mine, I wanted no lawn at all and a completely Australian native plants garden with a couple of exceptions for nostalgic reasons – the lilac especially to remind me of my childhood garden at Yetholme, NSW.
I removed environmental weeds, killed the lawn, had new pergolas built and covered the entire garden with mulch.
I designed a low heathland type of garden for the front and a stroll garden in the back with taller shrubs providing many hidden places to discover. Planting gradually progressed and the garden was quite lovely.
